I did double the recipe since our hamburger is prepackaged in 2 lb. frozen chunks. It's a good thing I did too. We had company over for dinner and even though I made 8 and there were four adults and two kids... there weren't any leftovers! Even picky eater Koop ate them!
Anyhow, give this recipe a try and add it to your recipe book, you'll be glad you did!
Salisbury Steaks
Ingredients:
2 lb Ground Beef
2/3 Cup Bread Crumbs
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
2 eggs
Medium Onion sliced
2 Cups Beef Broth
1 4oz Can Sliced Mushrooms (optional... I don't add mushrooms YUCK!!!)
2 Tbsp Cornstarch
2 Tbsp Water
1 Packet Brown Gravy
Directions:
Mix ground beef, bread crumbs, salt, pepper and eggs together. Shape into 8 3/4 inch thick patties. Place in a pan and brown on each side, flipping them only once. Add sliced onions, mushrooms and beef broth and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat, cover and simmer for about 10 minutes. Remove patties and heat broth to a boil. Combine cornstarch and water to make a paste and add to boiling broth. Whisk into beef broth until thickened. Prepare brown gravy as directed and add to beef broth gravy.
If you are planning on freezing them, put steaks in a freezer storage bag and allow the gravy to cool then pour over the steaks, label the bag and freeze. When ready to serve, thaw overnight, place in oven or crockpot as directed below.

If cooking in the oven, put salisbury steaks in a oven safe casserole dish and pour gravy over salisbury steak patties. Bake at 350 degrees until bubbly.
If cooking in the crockpot, put salisbury steaks in crockpot and cover with gravy on low for 3 hours.
Serve with mashed potatoes, rice or noodles.
